There’s an old saying, trotted out from time to time, that It’s Grim Up North.
The KLF made music about it, Victoria Wood sketches . . .
The thing is, it isn’t the truth. Couldn’t be further from it, in fact.
Take our word for it for we’ve just been . . .
To the (not so grim) North and we ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT.
Our weekend on Tyneside could not have been finer.
Indeed, we can’t wait to go back.
To Newcastle. To Northumberland Street. To Fenwick, where our first ever POP-UPS in the North-East could not have gone much better.
Such a remarkable retailer. Such a fabulous Food Hall. Such a super-duper city . . .
The classical architecture. The river and all its bridges. The renowned nightlife (of course).
Needless to say, we couldn’t be more impressed (or inspired. Or excited. Or grateful. Or exhilarated. Or exhausted (Newcastle – after all – is an awfully-long way from our base at BBBHQ)).
Not that the distances involved are going to deter us . . .
Not one bit, because after a delightful debut at Fenwick (on Friday/Saturday), we will, just like Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator, BE BACK (and ready to do business) . . .
Later this month and once again in November (and maybe, hopefully, again and again and again after that).
To Newcastle. To Northumberland Street. To the fabulous folk in the Food Hall at Fenwick.
Grim Up North?
It has been said . . .
But don’t believe it for a second.
